So, we went to Disney about six weeks ago. Yes I know I'm behind, but I took so many pictures and we've been so busy that it was just last week that I got them on my computer. I won't bore you with all the many pictures I took of every little thing we did, even though we had a blast! But I thought I would share some of the dining highlights. Disney has some great food, and we also ate at some non-disney places as well that were great.
We kicked off the trip with dinner at Giordano's. It's a franchise of the wonderful Chicago restaurant that we love so much. This one isn't in Disney, but it's not far from the parks. It was divine! We started out with the appetizer sampler with fried zuccini (so delicious!) and fried cheese sticks.
Then, we got a deep dish and a thin crust and all shared. It was amazing!
The next day was Epcot and we at the Tangierine Cafe in Morrocco. It was so refreshing and full of flavor. Adam & I split a plate of marinated chicken, hummus, cous cous, and tabbloueh. Loved it! I am like addicted to hummus and cous cous these days so this was a wonderful treat for me.
We also stopped in at the French bakery, Boulangerie and had pastries in the afternoon. They were so decadent. Adam & I split the apple tart. The crust was so buttery and flaky and the apple flavor was just perfect. I also tried some of my step-dad's chocolate mousse and words can't even really describe how good it was.
Perhaps our favorite restaurant in all of Disney is the Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Even if you don't have reservations there, it's worth going to the Lodge because outside they have viewing areas where you can view animals (giraffes, zebras, etc). And they can get pretty close. I got some great pictures.
Back to the food. The Boma is a huge buffet of African food, but they also have an American station for those that aren't as adventurous. My favorites were the pork loin, butternut squash soup (tasted like dessert!), cous cous, and falafel balls. Dessert was amazing as well. They had a mango cobbler that was out of this world!
We also had breakfast at Chef Mickey's which is so fun! It's a great way to get to meet the characters without standing in lines, because they come to you. The food is also outstanding. This is where I first had the breakfast pizza that I made a few weeks ago. They also had these amazing Mickey shaped belgium waffles! Those were my personal favorite. Oh, and the biscuits and gravy...yum!
We also ate at Sweet Tomatoes (not in Disney) which is a chain salad/soup bar but their food is really fresh and they have a great selection. Their chili is really full of flavor and they make an assortment of wonderful fresh muffins daily. We ate in a couple of nights and ate at Earl of Sandwich in downtown Disney a couple times, which has great sandwiches. Stay tuned for another post soon on some money saving Disney tips.
Cool post!! Looks like you had a great time, and ate very well!
